Franklin Pierce was served as 14th President of the United States and he was American politician and lawyer. He has been the only one President from New Hampshire. He took part in the Mexican American War and became a brigadier general. He made several divisive decisions which were extensively criticized and earned him a reputation as one of the worst presidents in U.S. history. Pierce's esteem in the North declined sharply after he came out in support of the Kansas-Nebraska Act, repealing the Missouri Compromise and improved the debate over expanding slavery in the West. After down the Democratic nomination, Pierce continued his lifelong fight with alcoholism as his marriage to Jane Means Appleton Pierce fell apart.
